The « hand-free » skip@ss

On the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine and Alpe du Grand Serre ski areas
The main innovation for the winter season 2007/2008

The main innovation of the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine area for the winter season 2007/2008 is the automated ticket emission and control system called « Hands free ». The SATA decided to entirely equip its ski area with electronic terminals, this anwsering its customers’ expectations and improving their comfort of the skiable field and within the resort.

Nearly 80 control terminals are placed on our ski lift network. All of them are positioned on the left of the skier.

From now on, ski passes are registered on a microchip, embedded in a skipass (credit card size plastic support).
The « hands-free » system, developped by Skidata company, automatically detects and controls your ski pass when you pass in front of the terminal and your ski pass remain in your pocket. The terminal remotely reads the data of the purchase ski pass (ski area, duration of the ski pass, photograph, skier category adult, junior, senior…). No more need to take out and show your ski pass! More comfortable for skiers, a saving of time at controls and, of course, increased flow at the ski lifts. It also represents the possibility to purchase your pass directly on the Internet. No more need to queue at a cashier, you can go skiing directly.

How to use it

Where to put your skip@ss ?

In your left pocket

When you ski by the starting point of the lift, your pass is detected and checked automatically, as long as it is in the left pocket of your jacket.
Never put in this same pocket your keys, mobile phone, credit cards, your up dated ski passes or even some metallic things. The best is to have your ski pass isolated in your pocket in order not to make any interference.
Every member of your family – or of your group, must hold his own ski pass.
One ski pass is not transferable, be sure you have it in your pocket and do not lose your receipt (proof of the purchase).
Do not bore it, do not fold it, do not twist it: the electronic system should be dammaged. Do not write or do not stick on your skipass.
