Discover Alpe d’Huez in summer

Alpe d’Huez has been welcoming tourists since 1936.  Situated at 1860m and south facing, the resort basks in the sun for an average 300 days a year, earning it the nickname ‘island in the sun’ (île au soleil).

As in winter, you can use our extensive network of lifts to reach the Pic Blanc summit, at 3330m above sea level.  From the peak you can enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and – on a clear day –  one fifth of France!

Alpe d’Huez is also famous for hosting perhaps the most challenging stages of The Tour de France.

After snaking up the 21 legendary bends on a road bike, test your mountain bike (MTB) skills on our 37 MTB trails, covering 250km and served by nine gondola lifts.  Lift schedules.

Alpe d’Huez welcomes mountain bikers from across the globe, with riders from 20 nations competing here in the world’s biggest MTB race, the Megavalanche.  Over 2,000 riders take part in the seven-day event, culminating in the final race from the glacier of Pic Blanc to the valley town of Allemont.

For those who prefer two feet to two wheels, discover our beautiful mountains and lakes with 230km of signposted and well maintained footpaths.

You can also use your multi-activity Premium lift- pass to enjoy a wide range of other sports, or simply to relax beside the pool.
