2010 – 2011

Works on the skilifts

• 2010 is the yeat when the works on the « Signal de l’Homme » began

After many years of service, the Lombards chairlift will be replaced by a brend new one, which will be shorter so as to reach the bottom of Fontfroide quickly, as the slopes called les Lys and le Gua. 2 million euros is the total cost for these works. In 2011, all the lifts of Fontfroide will be replaced by a new 6-place chairlift. Also the Alp’Auris chairlift will be renovated during 2 years: its arrival first in 2010, and all the electric equipment in 2011.

• Lifts more reliable

SATA goes on replacing the electric equipment of many lifts. In 2010, the Pic Blanc cable car and the Alp’Auris chairlift equipments will be completely replaced. Also  the 1^st part of the cable car of Vaujany will have its electric equipment replaced . Even if the clients can’t see all this work, we must admit that they are essential to keep our lifts safe and reliable. The total cost for such a work is 600 000 euros.

• Lifts more comfortable

The departure of the Lièvre Blanc chairlift will be changed to increase the number of skiers. So the time to reach the top will be shorter. The cost of this is around 100 000 euros.

Works on the slopes

• A new slope

The SATA Company will create some new slopes under the new Marmottes chairlift. Also the slope called Les Ancolies will be finished with some grass, so as to increase the high mountain pastures – in Alpe d’Huez, “Alpe” means “high mountain pastures”.

• Improving the slopes

We have to re-profile the slope going down to Huez en Oisans to improve its interest and its width : we will set some new snow guns there so as to obtain a itinerary from the Pic Blanc about 2000 m. Another slope, la Cristallière situated under the Herpie chairlift at 3060 m will be improved to be open with just a little snow. The cost for that is 800 000 euros.

• Guarantee of the snow coverage

The restraint of water situated at 2300 m is going to be put in conformity with the new statutory texts and will be so improved. The SATA Company pursues the modernization of the very first snow guns so as to improve the productivity while limiting the energy consumption. This is another action important for the environment and the preservation of the activity and the jobs in the resort. Total cost: 1 000 000 euros.

The information of the customers

An important investment is going to be realized this year. We have to multiply the information to the customers during their movements on the ski slopes. Information on the opening times, advice on the saturated sectors, a follow-up during incidents on the ski slopes, etc… All this will be more advanced and made more visible. The information was already developed in 2009/2010 with the application Iphone: this one allows to follow the openings of slopes, to have weather forecasts, to have an access in the webcams of the domain and in the information and the events in the resort.
